Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses made with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores fortified with polyfoam base layers. Helix Box
Helix Sleep offers full mattress customization. Purchasers are urged to fill out a survey that asks for their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other factors. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress models; each individual option gives a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them perfect for side sleepers. While those that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are great for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel most comfortable on models with balanced support, while people that weigh 130 pounds or more tend to prefer the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both these mattresses have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them suitable for couples with differing tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier individuals. This model has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a wide range of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Box

Construction Helix Box
All nine of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be rather similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness depending upon the foams used in order to get more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 different foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the variants have all of the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine different variants (and hopefully have a mattress for everybody). Helix Box
Below, I quickly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some nice breathability. But, if you want something more amped up, you can choose to swap out the regular cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change material to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will encounter a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, meaning you’re likely to experience some great body shaping. While it might seem strange for a supposedly medium firmness mattress to make use of a memory foam layer, it’s important to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it produces quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and create a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the construction, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Because the coils are individually wrapped, they are also going to give extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you will uncover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer does not really affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s talk about their varying feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on the variant you select. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which tends to be very versatile and therefore exceptionally popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep is happy to provide you with more options.
Laying down on the Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer is soft and produces some top quality body contouring, while the other materials within the mattress work to counteract this and make an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or people who prefer a firmer mattress, there are two more models for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Most side sleepers should feel totally comfy on the Midnight, however, if you’re needing a bit less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you may decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with all of their weight on a smaller region. People who are lighter than average or people looking for plenty of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers will feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this is not their primary position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their spine.
Last, the manufacturer suggests Helix for sleepers around 350 lbs or couples that weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. If you or your spouse are substantially bigger than average, Helix has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that is constructed to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with different body types or tastes may also pick a dual comfort option that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of these options sound right, you could always check out the 4 other variants in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option of the bunch).
Now, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is noticeable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this will be important for all buyers, those who sleep with a spouse may find it particularly intriguing as it will illuminate just how bothered you’ll be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Box
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the individually wrapped coils which help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper concerned that movement from the opposite side of the bed will bother you, then you should not have much concern with this hybrid. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
When purchasing a new mattress, most individuals wish to know whether they’ll feel like they are sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
While you’re likely to experience a little immediate sinkage in the soft foam at the top, when you sink through those layers, you will reach the pocketed coils and find fantastic support. This combination will interest a vast range of individuals, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers in particular.
Though I do feel the foam compress as I sit near the edge of the mattress, the coils stop the mattress from collapsing a lot . I feel quite secured seated on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfortable and secure. Partners who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I can get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll roll over or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I think the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually come with. Helix Sleep is not any different. You create the mattress that is made for you, place your order, and in a couple of weeks, it’s delivered to your home. From the moment you click to order the mattress, you have 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it free of charge, and receive a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. Actually, Helix Sleep finds a local place to donate it. If there is no way Helix can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Box
The Helix Mattress includes an awesome 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it comes with some limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the customer (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you must be the original owner of the Helix to make use of the warranty, and you need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to have a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix begins to show an indentation of 1 inch or more, which is what usually happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For regular cleanup, it is advised to use cool water along gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Make sure that you clean using soft circular motions, instead of rubbing.
Final Thoughts Helix Box
If you’re shopping for a mattress and are not quite sure what feel that you need, Helix’s Color Match system and quiz might be the key to unlocking your best sleep with no hassle. Their awesome system, which is based on expert opinions and AI, was designed to better their client’s sleep by providing a better match. Helix Box
The features of this mattress were thoughtfully constructed to provide choices whether you were searching for a mattress that keeps cool all night, if you needed one to cradle your shape with a thick comfort system, or both! The coil unit should offer great edge support and movement transfer is minimal with their individually-wrapped structure.
