Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses manufactured using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Bedding
Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Purchasers are asked to complete a questionnaire that asks for their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other elements. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress models; each individual option gives a one-of-a-kind combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them optimal for side sleepers. While mattresses that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are suitable for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel most comfy on models with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 pounds or more tend to favor the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both these mattresses have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them ideal for couples with different preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for bigger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a large range of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Bedding

Construction Helix Bedding
All nine of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be fairly similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness based on the foams utilized in order to get more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the mattresses have all of the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 distinct variants (and supposedly have a model for everyone). Helix Bedding
Below, I quickly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some great breathability. But, if you want something more luxurious, you can choose to swap out the regular cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change fabric for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll find a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, meaning you are probably going to encounter some gratifying body shaping. While it might seem odd for a supposedly medium firm mattress to make use of a memory foam layer, it’s important to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it generates quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you will uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and set a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress consists of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the construction, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Since these coils are wrapped individually, they are also going to allow additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you’ll discover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer doesn’t really affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us chat about their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on the version you pick out. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which will be very versatile and thus exceptionally popular. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to provide you with additional options.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer feels soft and produces some top quality body contouring, while the other materials within the Midnight work to control this and make an overall firmer structure. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is just enough good comfort material in the Midnight to conform to your lower spine while supporting your back in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or people who prefer a firmer bed, there are two more choices for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Majority of side sleepers will feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, but, if you are wanting a bit less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you may want to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with all their weight on a tinier area. Those who are lighter than average or those looking for a lot of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers should feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their primary position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their backbone.
Finally, Helix Sleep recommends Helix for sleepers around 350 pounds or partners that weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. In the event you or your spouse are substantially larger than average, Helix has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that’s made to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Couples with differing types of bodies or tastes can also pick a dual comfort option that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of those models sound right, you could always check out the 4 other variants in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option in the collection).
Now, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is noticeable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this will be crucial for all buyers, those who doze with a partner may find it especially intriguing as it’ll show just how bothered you’ll be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Bedding
According to my research, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the individually wrapped coils which help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper concerned that movement from the other side of the mattress will bother you, you should not have a lot of concern with this mattress. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
While purchasing a new mattress, the majority of people want to know whether they will feel like they are sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
While you may experience some immediate sinkage in the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll hit the pocketed coils and experience amazing support. This combination will interest a vast range of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the Helix Midnight, the individually-wrapped coils stop the mattress from collapsing a lot . I feel very secure sitting on the bed.
In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their newly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfy and secure. Couples who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Laying down, I feel like I can get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will fall over or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I believe the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually come with. Helix Mattress is not any different. You customize the mattress that is made for you, place your order, and in 2 weeks, it is delivered to your home. From the minute you click to buy the mattress, you have 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t what you wanted, you can return it free, and receive a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. In fact, Helix does its best to locate a local place to donate it. When there is no way Helix can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Bedding
Helix offers an awesome 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it has limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most guarantees ). Of course, you must be the first owner of the Helix to make use of the guarantee, and you will need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to use a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4” apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix starts to have an indentation of 1” or more, which is what generally happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleanup, it’s suggested to use cold water along gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Be certain that you clean using soft circular movements, rather than rubbing.
