Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses manufactured with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Bed Soft

Helix Sleep offers complete mattress customization. Buyers are urged to complete a survey that discusses their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other elements. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress models; each individual model gives a unique combination of firmness and support:

  • Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
  • Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
  • Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support

Helix Sleep mattresses with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While those with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are ideal for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfortable on models with balanced support, while people who weigh 130 pounds or more often prefer the models with additional support.

Helix Sleep also markets 2 variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both these mattresses have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them suitable for couples with different preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for bigger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.

My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a wide variety of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate movement well, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Bed Soft

Construction Helix Bed Soft

All nine of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be rather similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.

Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness based on the foams used in order to achieve more/less firmness and more/less support. The four different foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the models have all the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine different variants (and hopefully have a mattress for everyone). Helix Bed Soft

Underneath, I concisely discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.

Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some great breathability. But, if you want something more amped up, you can opt to swap out the standard cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change fabric for temperature regulation.

Comfort Layer – Up top, you will find a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, which means you are probably going to encounter some gratifying body shaping. While it might seem strange for a purportedly medium firm mattress to incorporate a memory foam comfort layer, it’s crucial to remember that the presence of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it generates quite a firm feel.

Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and create a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the individually wrapped coils underneath.

Support Layer – The majority of the mattress is made up of this section of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the construction, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Since the coils are wrapped individually, they’re also likely to allow extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.

Base Layer – Lastly, you’ll find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer does not affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to react.

Firmness and Support

After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us chat about their different firmness levels and feels.

helix-mattress-firmness-and-support-scale

The firmness of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on which variant you pick out. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which will be quite versatile and thus exceptionally popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep is happy to provide you with additional choices.

Lying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam layer feels soft and produces some quality body shaping, while the other materials within the mattress work to control this and create an overall firmer structure. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.

For those who sleep on their back, there’s just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or people who prefer a firmer mattress, there are two more options for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.

Most side sleepers will feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you’re wanting less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you might decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.

Those who sleep on their side typically need to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with most of their weight on a smaller region. People who are smaller than average or people in the market for lots of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher models.

Stomach sleepers should feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their primary position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their backbone.

Lastly, the manufacturer recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 pounds or partners who weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. If you or your partner are significantly larger than average, the company has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that is constructed to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.

Partners with differing types of bodies or tastes can also pick a dual comfort option that combines Firm with Plush.

Bear in mind that if none of those options seem quite right, you may always have a look at the four other mattresses in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant of the bunch).

Motion Transfer

Now, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s detectable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be crucial for many people, those who sleep with a spouse may find it especially interesting as it will show just how bothered you will be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Bed Soft

According to my research, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it contains, as well as the pocketed coils that help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that movement from the opposite side of the bed will wake you, then you shouldn’t have much concern with this mattress. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.

Sinkage

When getting a brand-new mattress, the majority of individuals wish to know whether they’ll feel as though they are sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.

Even though you may experience a little immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through those layers, you will reach the individually-wrapped coils and experience fantastic support. This combo will interest a vast assortment of individuals, but will suit stomach and back sleepers the most.

Edge Support

Though I do feel the foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the coils stop the mattress from collapsing too much . I feel quite secure sitting on the mattress.

In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfortable and safe. Partners who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.

Lying down, I feel like I can get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will roll over or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I think the Helix has great edge support.

100 Night Sleep Trial

Among the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually include. Helix Sleep is not any different. You create the mattress that is intended for you, place your order, and in two weeks, it’s sent to your door. From the moment you click to buy the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not perfect, you can return it for free, and receive a complete refund.

If you do return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. In fact, the company locates a local place to donate it. If there is no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Bed Soft

Helix Warranty

The Helix Mattress includes an awesome 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it has some limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the customer (like most warranties). Of course, you should be the first owner of the Helix to use the guarantee, and you need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.

Provided that you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to use a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!

If your mattress begins to have an indentation of 1” or more, which is what generally happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?

Helix mattresses need no turning, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.

For regular cleanup, it’s suggested to use cold water along gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Make sure to clean using soft circular movements, instead of rubbing.
