Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses made using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Bed Reviews
Helix Sleep offers complete mattress customization. Buyers are requested to complete a questionnaire that asks for their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other elements. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress options; each respective option provides a one-of-a-kind combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While mattresses with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are suitable for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfortable on variants with balanced support, while people that weigh 130 lbs or more tend to prefer the variants with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both of these mattresses have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them suitable for couples with differing preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier people. This model has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a wide variety of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Bed Reviews

Construction Helix Bed Reviews
All nine of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be rather similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density depending upon the foams used in order to achieve more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the models have all the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine unique models (and hopefully have a model for everybody). Helix Bed Reviews
Underneath, I concisely talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some nice breathability. But, if you prefer something more lavish, you can opt to swap out the normal cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change material for heat regulation.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will encounter a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, meaning you’re likely to encounter some great body shaping. While it might seem odd for a purportedly medium firmness mattress to incorporate a memory foam layer, it’s crucial to remember that the existence of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it generates quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – The majority of the mattress consists of this section of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the structure, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Because the coils are wrapped individually, they’re also likely to give extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you will find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This section doesn’t affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us chat about their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on the model you select. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which will be very versatile and thus exceptionally popular. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to oblige you with more options.
Lying down on the Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer feels soft and generates some quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials in the mattress work to counteract this and make an overall firmer composition. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or those who want a firmer bed, there are two more options for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Majority of side sleepers will feel totally comfy on the Midnight, however, if you are wanting less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you may want to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with most of their weight on a tinier area. People who are lighter than average or people in the market for a lot of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher models.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their primary position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their backbone.
Finally, Helix Sleep recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 pounds or couples that weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. If you or your spouse are substantially bigger than average, Helix has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that is constructed to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.
Couples with differing body types or tastes can also select a dual comfort option that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of these models sound quite right, you can always check out the four other variants in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress of the bunch).
Now, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is noticeable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this will be important for many sleepers, those who sleep with a spouse may find it particularly intriguing as it will illuminate just how bothered you’ll be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Bed Reviews
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the individually wrapped coils that help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper concerned that motion from the other side of the bed will wake you, then you should not have much concern with this mattress. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.
While getting a new mattress, most individuals would like to know whether they’ll feel as though they are sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you may encounter some immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through those layers, you are going to find the pocketed coils and feel great support. This combo will appeal to a vast range of sleepers, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the mattress, the pocketed coils stop the mattress from collapsing too much . I feel quite secure sitting on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their recently updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There can be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfortable and secure. Partners who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Lying down, I also feel like I can get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will fall off or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I think that the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually come with. Helix Mattress is not any different. You customize the mattress that’s intended for you, place your order, and in a couple of weeks, it’s sent to your home. From the minute you click to buy the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not ideal, you can return it for free, and get a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. Actually, Helix finds a local place to donate it. If there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Bed Reviews
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it has a few limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the customer (like most guarantees ). Of course, you must be the original owner of the mattress to use the warranty, and you will need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to have a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4” apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix starts to show an indentation of 1 inch or longer, something that generally happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleaning, it’s suggested to use cool water along gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Be sure to clean using gentle circular movements, rather than rubbing.
