Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses made using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Bed Instructions

Helix Sleep allows full mattress customization. Customers are asked to complete a survey that asks for their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other elements. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress options; each individual variant gives a unique combination of support and firmness:

  • Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
  • Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
  • Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support

Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them perfect for side sleepers. While mattresses with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are ideal for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel most comfy on variants with balanced support, while people that weigh 130 lbs or more often prefer the variants with additional support.

Helix Sleep also markets two models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both of these mattresses have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them suitable for couples with differing tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.

My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a large variety of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate movement well, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Bed Instructions

Construction Helix Bed Instructions

All 9 of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be quite similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.

Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness depending upon the foams used in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 unique foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the models have all of the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 different mattresses (and supposedly have a mattress for everybody). Helix Bed Instructions

Below, I briefly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.

Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some wonderful breathability. However, if you want something more luxurious, you can elect to swap out the standard cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change fabric for temperature regulation.

Comfort Layer – On top, you will encounter a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, which means you’re likely to encounter some gratifying body contouring. Even though it may seem strange for a supposedly medium firm mattress to feature a memory foam layer, it is crucial to remember that the existence of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it generates quite a firm feeling.

Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you will discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and establish a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the individually wrapped coils below.

Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress consists of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the structure, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Because these coils are wrapped individually, they’re also going to give additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.

Base Layer – Last but not least, you’ll find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This segment doesn’t affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.

Firmness and Support

After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us chat about their varying firmness levels and feels.

helix-mattress-firmness-and-support-scale

The firmness level of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on which model you select. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which tends to be quite versatile and therefore exceptionally popular. If you have more specific preferences, however, Helix Sleep is happy to oblige you with additional choices.

Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer feels soft and generates some top quality body shaping, while the other materials in the Midnight work to counteract this and make an overall firmer structure. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.

For back sleepers, there’s enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lumbar while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or people who want a firmer bed, there are 2 more models for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.

Most side sleepers will feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you’re wanting less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you might want to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.

Side sleepers typically have to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with most their weight on a smaller area. People who are lighter than average or those looking for plenty of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher variants.

Those who sleep on their stomach will feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their main position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their backbone.

Last, Helix Sleep suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 pounds or partners who weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. If you or your partner are substantially larger than average, the company has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that’s created to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.

Partners with differing body types or preferences may also select a dual comfort variant that combines Firm with Plush.

Keep in mind that if none of these options feel quite right, you could always check out the four other mattresses in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the collection).

Motion Transfer

Next up, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s detectable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be crucial for many buyers, those who sleep with a partner may find it particularly intriguing as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you will be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Bed Instructions

Based on my observation, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the individually wrapped coils which help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper concerned that movement from the opposite side of the mattress will bother you, you shouldn’t have much concern with this mattress. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.

Sinkage

When purchasing a brand-new mattress, the majority of individuals want to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.

While you may encounter some immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through those layers, you will hit the pocketed coils and experience great support. This combination will interest a vast assortment of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers the most.

Edge Support

Though I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the Helix Midnight, the pocketed coils stop the mattress from compressing too much beyond that. I feel very secured sitting on the mattress.

In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their recently updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There may be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfy and safe. Partners who want more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.

Laying down, I feel like I could get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I will fall over or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I think the Helix has great edge support.

100 Night Sleep Trial

Among the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually include. Helix Mattress is not any different. You create the mattress that’s meant for you, place your order, and in 2 weeks, it’s sent to your home. From the moment you click to buy the mattress, you have 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t ideal, you can return it for free of charge, and receive a full refund.

If you do return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. Actually, Helix locates a local place to donate it. When there’s no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Bed Instructions

Helix Warranty

The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it has some limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you must be the first owner of the Helix to use the warranty, and you need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.

As long as you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you need to use a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!

If your mattress begins to have an indentation of 1 inch or more, something that typically happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?

Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.

For regular cleaning, it is suggested to use cool water along gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Make sure to wash using soft circular movements, instead of rubbing.

Final Thoughts Helix Bed Instructions

If you’re shopping for a mattress and are not quite certain what feel that you need, Helix’s Color Match system and quiz may be the secret to finding your best sleep with minimal hassle. Their amazing system, which relies on expert sentiment and AI, was created to improve their client’s sleep by providing a better match. Helix Bed Instructions

The attributes of this mattress were thoughtfully constructed to provide options whether you were searching for a mattress that stays cool all night, if you needed one to support your shape with a thick comfort system, or both! The pocketed coil unit should offer great edge support and movement transfer is minimal with their individually-wrapped structure.
