Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses made with dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Bed Frames
Helix Sleep allows full mattress customization. Customers are urged to fill out a survey that discusses their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other factors. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress variants; each individual model offers a one-of-a-kind combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are ideal for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel most comfy on models with balanced support, while individuals that weigh 130 pounds or more often favor the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets two mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both these mattresses have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them ideal for couples with different preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier individuals. This variant has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a wide range of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Bed Frames

Construction Helix Bed Frames
All 9 of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be rather similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density depending on the foams utilized in order to achieve more/less firmness and more/less support. The four unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the models have all the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 different versions (and hopefully have a model for everybody). Helix Bed Frames
Below, I briefly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some great breathability. However, if you prefer something more lavish, you can elect to swap out the normal cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change fabric to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will discover a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow reaction to pressure, meaning you are likely to encounter some gratifying body contouring. While it might seem odd for a purportedly medium firm mattress to feature a memory foam comfort layer, it is important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it gives quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you will uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this segment of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the structure, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Because these coils are individually wrapped, they are also likely to allow additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you’ll discover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This section does not affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s talk about their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on which model you pick out. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which tends to be quite versatile and thus best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep is happy to provide you with additional options.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer feels soft and produces some top quality body contouring, while the other materials within the Midnight work to control this and make an overall firmer composition. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or people who prefer a firmer mattress, there are 2 more options for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Many side sleepers should feel totally comfy on the Midnight, however, if you are needing a bit less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you may want to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with most their weight on a tinier area. Those who are smaller than average or people in the market for plenty of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers should feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their primary position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their spine.
Finally, the manufacturer recommends Helix for sleepers up to 350 lbs or couples who weigh up to 250 pounds each. If you or your spouse are substantially bigger than average, Helix has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that is built to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with differing types of bodies or preferences can also select a dual comfort variant that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of those options feel quite right, you can always have a look at the 4 other mattresses in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant of the bunch).
Now, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s detectable from one side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be crucial for many buyers, those who doze with a partner may find it especially intriguing as it will illuminate just how bothered you will be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Bed Frames
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it contains, as well as the pocketed coils that help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper worried that motion from the other side of the mattress will wake you, you should not have much concern with this hybrid. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
While getting a new mattress, the majority of individuals wish to know whether they will feel like they are sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you are going to experience a little immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through those layers, you are going to find the individually-wrapped coils and find great support. This combo will interest a vast range of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers in particular.
Though I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the bed, the individually-wrapped coils stop the mattress from compressing too much . I feel quite secured sitting on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There can be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfy and safe. Couples who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I could get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will roll off or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I believe that the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically come with. Helix is no different. You create the mattress that’s intended for you, place your order, and in two weeks, it’s sent to your door. From the moment you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not ideal, you can return it for free of charge, and receive a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. Actually, Helix Sleep locates a local place to donate it. When there’s no way the company can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Bed Frames
Helix offers a generous 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it has limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you should be the original owner of the mattress to make use of the warranty, and you will need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you need to have a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4” apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress starts to have an indentation of 1 inch or more, which is what typically happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For regular cleaning, it’s suggested to use cool water with gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Make certain to clean using soft circular motions, rather than rubbing.
