Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses made using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Bed Commercial
Helix Sleep allows complete mattress customization. Customers are asked to fill out a survey that discusses their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other options. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress variants; each respective variant offers a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While mattresses with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are great for all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel most comfy on models with balanced support, while those that weigh 130 pounds or more often prefer the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both these mattresses have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them suitable for couples with differing preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier people. This mattress has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a large range of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Bed Commercial

Construction Helix Bed Commercial
All nine of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be quite similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density depending upon the foams utilized in order to attain more/less support and more/less firmness. The four unique foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the beds have all the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine unique mattresses (and supposedly have a model for everybody). Helix Bed Commercial
Below, I concisely discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some nice breathability. However, if you would like something more lavish, you can opt to swap out the regular cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change fabric for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will find a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, which means you are likely to experience some satisfying body shaping. Even though it may seem odd for a purportedly medium firm bed to feature a memory foam comfort layer, it is crucial to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it gives quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you will uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress consists of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the construction, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Since these coils are individually wrapped, they are also likely to allow extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you’ll uncover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This section doesn’t affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us talk about their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on which version you choose. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which will be quite versatile and therefore best-selling. If you have more specific requirements, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to provide you with additional choices.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer feels soft and produces some quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials in the mattress work to control this and make an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also help with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your back in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or those who prefer a firmer bed, there are two more models for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Many side sleepers will feel totally comfy on the Midnight, but, if you are needing a bit less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you might want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with all of their weight on a smaller area. People who are smaller than average or those looking for lots of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers will feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their primary position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their back.
Last, Helix Sleep recommends Helix for sleepers up to 350 lbs or partners that weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. If you or your spouse are significantly bigger than average, the company has also created a bed called the Nightfall that’s made to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.
Couples with differing types of bodies or tastes can also pick a dual comfort variant that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of these models seem quite right, you can always have a look at the four other models in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant in the line).
Now, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s noticeable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this will be crucial for all sleepers, those who doze with a partner may find it particularly intriguing as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you may be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. According to my research, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the individually wrapped coils that help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper concerned that motion from the other side of the bed will bother you, then you shouldn’t have much concern with this mattress. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
While getting a brand-new mattress, the majority of men and women wish to know whether they’ll feel as though they are sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
While you may encounter a little immediate sinkage in the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through those layers, you are going to find the pocketed coils and experience amazing support. This combo will appeal to a vast range of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers in particular.
Though I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit near the edge of the mattress, the pocketed coils stop the mattress from compressing too much beyond that. I feel quite secured sitting on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their recently updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfy and safe. Couples who need more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Lying down, I feel like I can get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll roll off or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I think the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically include. Helix Mattress is no different. You customize the mattress that is meant for you, place your order, and in two weeks, it is delivered to your door. From the moment you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not perfect, you can return it for free, and get a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. In fact, the company does its best to locate a local place to donate it. When there’s no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Bed Commercial
Helix offers a generous 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it has limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most guarantees ). Of course, you should be the first owner of the Helix to make use of the warranty, and you will need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you will need to use a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your mattress starts to have an indentation of 1 inch or longer, something that usually happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleaning, it is suggested to use cold water with gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Make sure to wash using soft circular movements, rather than rubbing.
