Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses made using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Adjustable
Helix Sleep allows full mattress customization. Purchasers are requested to fill out a questionnaire that discusses their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other factors. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress variants; each respective model gives a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them optimal for those who sleep on their side. While mattresses with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are great for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel more comfortable on models with balanced support, while those who weigh 130 lbs or more tend to favor the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both these variants have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them great for couples with differing preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier people. This mattress has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a wide assortment of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Adjustable

Construction Helix Adjustable
All nine of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be rather similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density depending upon the foams used in order to get more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the beds have all of the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine unique versions (and supposedly have a model for everyone). Helix Adjustable
Below, I quickly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some great breathability. But, if you want something more luxurious, you can choose to swap out the normal cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change material to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll find a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow reaction to pressure, meaning you’re likely to encounter some satisfying body shaping. Even though it may seem strange for a supposedly medium firmness mattress to incorporate a memory foam comfort layer, it’s important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it gives quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you will find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this section of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the construction, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Since these coils are individually wrapped, they’re also likely to give additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you’ll find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This section doesn’t really affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s chat about their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness level of the Helix will differ widely depending on which model you select. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which is going to be quite versatile and thus exceptionally popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep is happy to oblige you with additional choices.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam layer is soft and generates some top quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials in the Midnight work to control this and make an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also help with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there’s just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or those who prefer a firmer bed, there are two more models for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Most side sleepers should feel totally comfy on the Midnight, however, if you are needing a bit less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you might want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with all their weight on a tinier region. Those who are smaller than average or people looking for a lot of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their main position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their backbone.
Last, Helix Sleep recommends Helix for sleepers up to 350 lbs or couples who weigh up to 250 pounds each. In the event you or your partner are substantially bigger than average, Helix has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that’s created to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with differing body types or tastes may also pick a dual comfort variant that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if none of these options seem quite right, you can always check out the four other models in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant of the bunch).
Next up, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is detectable from one side of the bed to the other. While this will be crucial for all buyers, those who sleep with a spouse may find it particularly intriguing as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you’ll be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Adjustable
According to my research, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it contains, as well as the pocketed coils that help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper concerned that movement from the other side of the mattress will bother you, you shouldn’t have much concern with this mattress. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
When getting a brand-new mattress, the majority of people want to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
While you may encounter a little immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through those layers, you are going to reach the pocketed coils and experience amazing support. This combination will appeal to a wide range of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers the most.
Though I do feel the foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the Helix Midnight, the pocketed coils stop the mattress from collapsing too much . I feel very secure seated on the bed.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their newly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There can be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfy and safe. Couples who want more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Lying down, I feel like I can get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll roll off or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I believe that the Helix mattress has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically come with. Helix Sleep is no different. You create the mattress that’s intended for you, place your order, and within 2 weeks, it is sent to your home. From the minute you click to buy the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t what you wanted, you can return it free of charge, and get a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. In fact, the company finds a local place to donate it. If there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Adjustable
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it has a few limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the customer (like most guarantees ). Of course, you must be the original owner of the mattress to use the guarantee, and you need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to have a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4” apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix begins to have an indentation of 1” or more, something that generally happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleaning, it’s advised to use cold water along gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Be certain to clean using soft circular motions, instead of rubbing.
