Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses manufactured with dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Adjustable Frame
Helix Sleep allows full mattress customization. Customers are asked to complete a survey that discusses their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other elements. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress variants; each respective option offers a one-of-a-kind combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them ideal for side sleepers. While hybrids with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are great for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfy on models with balanced support, while people that weigh 130 lbs or more tend to prefer the variants with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets two variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both of these variants have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them great for couples with differing preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier individuals. This model has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a large variety of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Adjustable Frame

Construction Helix Adjustable Frame
All 9 of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be fairly similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness depending on the foams used in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The four unique foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the beds have all of the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 different models (and supposedly have a model for everybody). Helix Adjustable Frame
Below, I quickly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some wonderful breathability. However, if you prefer something more lavish, you can opt to swap out the regular cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change material to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will find a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow reaction to pressure, meaning you’re likely to experience some great body contouring. While it might seem odd for a supposedly medium firmness bed to incorporate a memory foam layer, it is important to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it generates quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you will uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the construction, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Since these coils are individually wrapped, they’re also likely to give extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you will discover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This section does not really affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us chat about their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on which variant you choose. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which is going to be quite versatile and thus best-selling. If you have more specific requirements, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to provide you with additional choices.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam layer is soft and produces some top quality body contouring, while the other materials in the mattress work to control this and create an overall firmer structure. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or those who want a firmer bed, there are two more models for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Most side sleepers should feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you’re wanting a bit less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you might decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically have to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with all their weight on a smaller region. Those who are smaller than average or those looking for lots of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher models.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their main position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their backbone.
Finally, Helix Sleep suggests Helix for sleepers up to 350 pounds or partners who weigh up to 250 pounds each. If you or your partner are significantly larger than average, Helix has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that is constructed to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with differing types of bodies or preferences may also select a dual comfort option that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of those options seem right, you may always have a look at the 4 other mattresses in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the collection).
Now, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s detectable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be important for many sleepers, those who sleep with a spouse may find it especially interesting as it will illuminate just how bothered you may be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Adjustable Frame
Based on my observation, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space because of the quantity and quality of foam it contains, as well as the individually wrapped coils that help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper worried that movement from the other side of the bed will bother you, then you should not have much concern with this mattress. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.
When purchasing a brand-new mattress, most men and women want to know whether they’ll feel as though they are sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you may experience a little immediate sinkage in the soft foam on top, when you sink through these layers, you’ll reach the pocketed coils and experience fantastic support. This combo will interest a wide assortment of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers the most.
While I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the Helix Midnight, the pocketed coils prevent the mattress from compressing too much . I feel quite secured sitting on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their newly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There can be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfy and secure. Partners who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I could get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I will fall off or be pushed off the bed. Overall, I think that the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually come with. Helix is no different. You customize the mattress that is intended for you, place your order, and within two weeks, it’s sent to your door. From the minute you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it free of charge, and get a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. In fact, the company finds a local place to donate it. When there is no way Helix can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Adjustable Frame
Helix Sleep offers a generous 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it has some limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the customer (like most guarantees ). Of course, you must be the first owner of the Helix to make use of the warranty, and you will need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to use a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress begins to have an indentation of 1 inch or longer, which is what typically happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleaning, it’s advised to use cold water with gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Be certain to clean using gentle circular motions, instead of rubbing.
