Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses made with dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Adjustable Base Reviews
Helix Sleep allows complete mattress customization. Purchasers are asked to complete a survey that asks for their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other options. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress models; each individual variant offers a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep mattresses with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are great for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel most comfortable on variants with balanced support, while individuals that weigh 130 pounds or more often prefer the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both these models have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them great for couples with different preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier individuals. This variant has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a wide range of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Adjustable Base Reviews

Construction Helix Adjustable Base Reviews
All nine of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be rather similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness depending upon the foams utilized in order to attain more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 different foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the mattresses have all of the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 distinct mattresses (and hopefully have a mattress for everybody). Helix Adjustable Base Reviews
Below, I briefly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some great breathability. But, if you want something more luxurious, you can elect to swap out the normal cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change fabric to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll encounter a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you’re probably going to encounter some gratifying body contouring. While it might seem odd for a supposedly medium firmness mattress to feature a memory foam comfort layer, it’s important to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it produces quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you will find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and establish a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the construction, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Because these coils are individually wrapped, they’re also going to allow extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you will find a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This layer doesn’t really affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s discuss their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness of the Helix will differ widely depending on the variant you select. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which tends to be very versatile and thus very popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to provide you with additional options.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer feels soft and produces some high quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials within the Midnight work to counteract this and create an overall firmer composition. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there’s enough good comfort material in the Helix Midnight to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or those who want a firmer bed, there are two more options for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Majority of side sleepers will feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you’re needing a bit less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you might decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with most their weight on a tinier area. People who are lighter than average or those in the market for lots of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their main position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their back.
Lastly, Helix Sleep recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 pounds or couples that weigh up to 250 lbs each. If you or your spouse are significantly bigger than average, Helix has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that is made to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.
Couples with different body types or preferences may also pick a dual comfort variant that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of those options sound quite right, you may always check out the four other models in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant of the bunch).
Now, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s detectable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be important for all sleepers, those who sleep with a spouse may find it particularly interesting as it’ll show just how bothered you may be by your partner’s nighttime movements. According to my research, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the individually wrapped coils which help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper afraid that movement from the other side of the mattress will wake you, you should not have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
When buying a brand-new mattress, most individuals wish to know whether they’ll feel as though they are sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you’re likely to experience a little immediate sinkage in the soft foam on top, when you sink through these layers, you will find the pocketed coils and feel fantastic support. This combination will interest a vast assortment of individuals, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers the most.
Though I do feel the foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the bed, the individually-wrapped coils prevent the mattress from collapsing a lot beyond that. I feel very secure seated on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their recently updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There may be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfortable and secure. Couples who want more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Laying down, I feel like I can get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll roll over or be pushed off the bed. Overall, I believe the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically include. Helix Mattress is no different. You create the mattress that is meant for you, place your order, and within 2 weeks, it is sent to your home. From the minute you click to buy the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not perfect, you can return it free, and receive a complete refund.
If you do return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. In fact, Helix Sleep does its best to find a local place to donate it. When there’s no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Adjustable Base Reviews
Helix Sleep offers a generous 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it has some limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most warranties). Needless to say, you should be the first owner of the Helix to make use of the warranty, and you will need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to have a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4” apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix begins to show an indentation of 1” or longer, something that generally happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleanup, it is advised to use cold water along gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Make sure that you wash using gentle circular motions, rather than rubbing.
