Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses made using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced with polyfoam base layers. Happy Helix Pillow Reviews

Helix Sleep allows full mattress customization. Buyers are asked to fill out a questionnaire that discusses their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other elements. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress models; each individual variant gives a one-of-a-kind combination of firmness and support:

  • Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
  • Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
  • Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support

Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While mattresses that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are ideal for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel most comfortable on variants with balanced support, while individuals that weigh 130 pounds or more tend to favor the variants with additional support.

Helix Sleep also markets two models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both of these mattresses have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them suitable for couples with differing preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.

My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a wide variety of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Happy Helix Pillow Reviews

Construction Happy Helix Pillow Reviews

All nine of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be quite similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.

Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density depending on the foams utilized in order to get more/less support and more/less firmness. The four different foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the variants have all of the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine different mattresses (and hopefully have a model for everybody). Happy Helix Pillow Reviews

Underneath, I concisely talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.

helix-midnight-construction

Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some great breathability. But, if you prefer something more lavish, you can choose to swap out the normal cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change material for temperature regulation.

Comfort Layer – Up top, you will discover a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, meaning you are likely to experience some gratifying body shaping. While it might seem odd for a purportedly medium firm bed to feature a memory foam layer, it’s important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it produces quite a firm feel.

Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and create a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the individually wrapped coils underneath.

Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress consists of this segment of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the construction, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Because the coils are individually wrapped, they’re also likely to give additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.

Base Layer – Last but not least, you will find a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This layer doesn’t really affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.

Firmness and Support

After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us discuss their varying firmness levels and feels.

helix-mattress-firmness-and-support-scale

The firmness of the Helix will vary widely depending on which variant you choose. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which is going to be quite versatile and thus best-selling. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep is happy to oblige you with more options.

Lying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer feels soft and generates some quality body shaping, while the other materials within the Midnight work to counteract this and create an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also assist with re-positioning.

For those who sleep on their back, there is enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For larger buyers or people who want a firmer mattress, there are 2 more models for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.

Majority of side sleepers will feel totally comfy on the Midnight, but, if you are needing less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you might decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.

Side sleepers typically have to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with most of their weight on a smaller area. Those who are lighter than average or those looking for plenty of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher variants.

Those who sleep on their stomach should feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their main position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their backbone.

Lastly, Helix Sleep recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 pounds or couples that weigh up to 250 lbs each. In the event you or your partner are significantly larger than average, Helix has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that’s made to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.

Couples with differing body types or tastes may also pick a dual comfort model that combines Firm with Plush.

Bear in mind that if none of these models seem quite right, you can always have a look at the four other mattresses in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress of the bunch).

Motion Transfer

Now, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is detectable from one side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be important for all sleepers, those who sleep with a partner may find it particularly intriguing as it’ll show just how bothered you’ll be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Happy Helix Pillow Reviews

Based on my observation, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the individually wrapped coils which help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper worried that movement from the other side of the bed will bother you, you should not have much concern with this mattress. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.

Sinkage

When purchasing a brand-new mattress, the majority of individuals want to know whether they’ll feel like they are sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.

Even though you’re likely to experience a little immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through those layers, you will hit the pocketed coils and experience fantastic support. This combo will interest a vast assortment of individuals, but will suit stomach and back sleepers the most.

Edge Support

Though I do feel the foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the bed, the pocketed coils prevent the mattress from compressing too much beyond that. I feel very secure seated on the bed.

In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfortable and secure. Partners who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.

Laying down, I feel like I can get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will roll over or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I think that the Helix has nice edge support.

100 Night Sleep Trial

One of the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically come with. Helix Mattress is not any different. You create the mattress that is intended for you, place your order, and in 2 weeks, it’s sent to your home. From the minute you click to order the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not ideal, you can return it for free, and receive a complete refund.

If you do return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. In fact, Helix Sleep does its best to locate a local place to donate it. If there is no way Helix can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. Happy Helix Pillow Reviews

Helix Warranty

The Helix Mattress includes an awesome 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it comes with limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most guarantees ). Of course, you must be the original owner of the Helix to use the guarantee, and you will need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.

As long as you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to have a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4” apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!

If your Helix begins to have an indentation of 1 inch or more, something that typically happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?

Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.

For routine cleanup, it’s suggested to use cold water with gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Be certain that you clean using soft circular movements, instead of rubbing.
