Perhaps their most desired products, however, are their Lasercomb devices, which use low-level laser therapy (LLLT) to emit light energy to your follicles.
As a result, they assure to “revitalize and enliven” follicles, stimulate growth factors, and even counteract the thinning process. This is a process known as photobiostimulation, which is akin to photosynthesis used by plants.
HairMax’s Lasercombs are clinically studied and FDA approved for both women and men. The company also claims that over 90 percent of their customers encounter “noticeable benefits” with continuous use.

What’s a Laser Comb? Hairmax User Manual
A laser comb is basically an infrared (Low-Level Laser) heated comb.
I know: Hairmax User Manual
Laser may sound like something that would burn a hole through your scalp, but laser brushes use Low-Level Lasers that will not burn your scalp and are perfectly safe.
The infrared light stimulates hair follicles (via photobiostimulation) and “wakes them up” back to the hair growth cycle (known as the Anagen phase).
Here is what goes on:
The process naturally raises ATP and keratin production, which are the enzymes charged with delivering energy to living cells, including hair follicles.
Low-level Laser Therapy (LLLT) increases local blood flow, which speeds up and boosts delivery of key nutrients for developing new, healthy and strong hair.
The outcome? Hairmax User Manual
Fuller, thicker, stronger and healthier hair growth, and reduced hair loss and thinning.
(And a little-known bonus: An infrared comb can be very helpful for scalp itching and eczema. This wavelength is known to reduce skin redness and itching)
Which Lasercombs Do HairMax Offer?

The latest model in HairMax’s lineup, the LaserBand 41 was created for speed, because it can be used in no more than three minutes, three times every week.
As its name suggests, LaserBand 41 boasts 41 medical-grade lasers (no LEDs) to stimulate hair follicles at the cellular level, to stimulate hair growth, and counteract hair thinning. And with its Flex-fit head band design, it should be comfortable for nearly all head sizes and shapes.
LaserBand 41 is also very light and portable, which makes it ideal for travel, as well as for freedom of movement when in use.

How Does the HairMax LaserComb Work?
The HairMax Laser Combs are designed for women and men experiencing androgenetic alopecia. This is a medical term for hereditary hair loss. Treatment is self-administered. The laser comb is combed through the hair 3 times weekly for around 15 minutes. Another benefit: your arms will grow larger after 45 minutes of weekly combing. Brush the comb over the scalp region that is going through the miniaturization process. Usually, this reverses the miniaturization process. Rather than hair appearing thinner and gradually falling out entirely, they will start to get thicker. This will give you additional scalp coverage and a healthy looking head of hair.
Laser comb for hair loss you say? The word laser confuses lots of people initially. Is this something that is going to beam a hole through my head or burn my scalp? No worries, friend. They aren’t going to zap your brain. These combs utilize low-level lasers. These lasers excite hair follicles into a growth cycle similar to a product like Rogaine. This growth cycle is also popularly known as the anagen cycle you might have heard about. HairMax calls this process “anagen induction.”
If you wish to get into the technical terminology, this biological process is known as PhotoBioStimulation. This increases adenosine three phosphate (ATP) and keratin production. Enhancing cellular metabolism and activity, these two coenzymes are in charge of intracellular energy transfer in addition to being known for revitalizing living cells such as the hair follicle cells.
The other function that these low-level laser treatments are responsible for is increased blood circulation. Hair follicles require numerous nutrients to grow strong and healthy. Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) gets in the way of the delivery system. The laser comb helps make sure nutrients are delivered more effectively to hair follicles and also removes said DHT from the scalp.
The HairMax website has numerous before and after pictures. They display success stories and the like. In their expectations and results page they state: When using the HairMAx LaserComb hair loss treatment religiously, 3 times per week, most customers will see visible results in as little as 12 weeks. In addition to significant new hair growth, customers experience, revitalization of dead hair follicles, reversal of the thinning process and increased density and fullness of the hair. Why FDA Approval is a Big Deal
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is a regulatory body whose main job is to protect consumers from advertising ploys and dangerous products. They supervise matters such as dietary supplements and food safety laws. They’ve a meticulous and thorough application and testing process that businesses must submit to which in part, if they pass, can validate their products claims.
As we mentioned, the HairMax Laser Comb is the only hair loss treatment machine approved by the FDA. It is one of three hair loss treatment items given FDA approval as clinically proven hair loss treatment methods. The other two treatments given approval are a topical product by the name of Minoxidil (Rogaine) and an orally administered product named Propecia.
We will talk about a little history on how HairMax’s submission to the FDA was approved. Lexington International LLC conducted a research study in U.S.A. This clinical study was done in four various locations. In the final analysis, this research study found that 93 percent of participants using the HairMax Laser Comb had a decrease in the amount of terminal hairs. That means those participants who were aged 30 to 60 increased the amount of dense hairs. This increase was an average of approximately 19 hairs/cm over a six month period. So for each square centimeter of scalp, there was an additional 19 hairs in participants that used the laser comb.
This FDA approval only covers HairMax LaserCombs produced by Lexington International LLC.
