Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses made with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores fortified using polyfoam base layers. Glossier Helix
Helix Sleep gives you full mattress customization. Purchasers are requested to complete a survey that asks for their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other elements. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress models; each individual variant offers a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While those with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are great for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfy on models with balanced support, while people that weigh 130 pounds or more tend to favor the variants with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers two mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both these mattresses have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them suitable for couples with differing preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for bigger, heavier people. This model has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a large range of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate movement well, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Glossier Helix

Construction Glossier Helix
All 9 of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be rather similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness based on the foams utilized in order to achieve more/less firmness and more/less support. The four different foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the mattresses have all of the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine distinct models (and supposedly have a model for everybody). Glossier Helix
Underneath, I briefly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some nice breathability. However, if you would like something more lavish, you can elect to swap out the standard cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change fabric to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll find a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, which means you are likely to encounter some great body contouring. Even though it may seem strange for a purportedly medium firmness bed to feature a memory foam comfort layer, it is important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it gives quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you will find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and set a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the structure, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Since the coils are individually wrapped, they are also going to allow additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you will uncover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This layer doesn’t really affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s discuss their varying feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on the model you choose. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which tends to be quite versatile and thus exceptionally popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to provide you with more choices.
Lying down on the Midnight, the memory foam layer is soft and generates some top quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials within the mattress work to counteract this and create an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is just enough good comfort material in the Helix Midnight to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or people who want a firmer mattress, there are 2 more options for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Most side sleepers will feel totally comfy on the Midnight, but, if you are wanting a bit less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you might decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with all of their weight on a tinier region. Those who are lighter than average or people looking for plenty of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers will feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this is not their primary position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their backbone.
Last, Helix Sleep suggests Helix for sleepers around 350 pounds or partners who weigh up to 250 pounds each. In the event you or your partner are substantially bigger than average, Helix has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that is constructed to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with differing body types or tastes can also select a dual comfort variant that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of those models seem quite right, you can always have a look at the four other mattresses in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress of the bunch).
Next up, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is noticeable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this will be important for many buyers, those who sleep with a partner may find it particularly intriguing as it will illuminate just how bothered you’ll be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Glossier Helix
Based on my observation, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the quantity and quality of foam it contains, as well as the individually wrapped coils which help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper concerned that motion from the opposite side of the bed will wake you, then you should not have much concern with this mattress. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
When purchasing a new mattress, the majority of individuals would like to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you’re going to experience a little immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through these layers, you are going to reach the individually-wrapped coils and feel amazing support. This combination will interest a vast assortment of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the bed, the pocketed coils stop the mattress from collapsing too much . I feel very secured sitting on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their recently updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There can be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfortable and safe. Partners who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.
Laying down, I feel like I can get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll fall over or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I believe the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually come with. Helix Sleep is not any different. You customize the mattress that is made for you, place your order, and within a couple of weeks, it’s sent to your home. From the minute you click to buy the mattress, you have 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it free of charge, and receive a complete refund.
If you do return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. In fact, the company locates a local place to donate it. If there is no way Helix can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, they have it recycled instead. Glossier Helix
The Helix Mattress includes an amazing 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it comes with some limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the customer (like most warranties). Needless to say, you should be the original owner of the Helix to make use of the warranty, and you will need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you will need to use a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix begins to show an indentation of 1 inch or more, something that usually happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleanup, it is advised to use cold water with gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Make sure that you clean using gentle circular motions, instead of rubbing.
