Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses made using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced using polyfoam base layers. Ghostbed Vs Helix Bed
Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Purchasers are urged to fill out a questionnaire that discusses their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other factors. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress variants; each respective variant provides a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep mattresses with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them ideal for side sleepers. While mattresses with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are suitable for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfortable on models with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 pounds or more tend to favor the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both of these variants have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them suitable for couples with differing tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier people. This mattress has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a wide variety of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Ghostbed Vs Helix Bed

Construction Ghostbed Vs Helix Bed
All 9 of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be rather similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density depending on the foams used in order to attain more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 different foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the variants have all of the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 different versions (and hopefully have a mattress for everyone). Ghostbed Vs Helix Bed
Below, I briefly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some wonderful breathability. But, if you would like something more amped up, you can elect to swap out the normal cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change material to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll discover a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you are likely to experience some gratifying body shaping. While it might seem odd for a purportedly medium firm mattress to make use of a memory foam layer, it’s important to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it generates quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you’ll find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress consists of this segment of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the construction, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Since these coils are individually wrapped, they’re also going to encourage extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you will discover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This segment does not really affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us talk about their varying feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on which model you pick out. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which tends to be quite versatile and therefore exceptionally popular. If you have more specific requirements, however, Helix Sleep is happy to provide you with more choices.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer is soft and produces some top quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials within the Midnight work to control this and create an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also help with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your back in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or people who want a firmer mattress, there are two more models for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.
Majority of side sleepers should feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, but, if you are needing a bit less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you might want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically have to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with most of their weight on a smaller area. People who are lighter than average or those in the market for lots of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their main position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their backbone.
Finally, Helix Sleep recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 pounds or couples who weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. If you or your spouse are substantially larger than average, the company has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that’s built to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with different types of bodies or tastes may also pick a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if none of these options sound quite right, you may always check out the 4 other models in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option in the collection).
Now, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s noticeable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this will be crucial for many sleepers, those who sleep with a partner may find it particularly intriguing as it’ll show just how bothered you may be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Ghostbed Vs Helix Bed
According to my research, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the pocketed coils which help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper afraid that motion from the opposite side of the mattress will wake you, you should not have a lot of concern with this mattress. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
When buying a brand-new mattress, the majority of people want to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you may encounter some immediate sinkage from the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through those layers, you will find the individually-wrapped coils and feel amazing support. This combination will appeal to a wide assortment of individuals, but will suit back and stomach sleepers the most.
While I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit near the edge of the mattress, the individually-wrapped coils prevent the mattress from collapsing a lot . I feel very secure seated on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their recently updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfortable and secure. Couples who need more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Laying down, I feel like I could get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll roll over or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I believe that the Helix mattress has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically include. Helix Mattress is no different. You create the mattress that’s intended for you, place your order, and within 2 weeks, it’s sent to your home. From the minute you click to purchase the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t ideal, you can return it free of charge, and get a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. Actually, Helix Sleep finds a local place to donate it. If there is no way the company can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it is recycled instead. Ghostbed Vs Helix Bed
Helix offers a generous 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it has a few limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most warranties). Needless to say, you should be the original owner of the Helix to make use of the warranty, and you will need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to have a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix begins to have an indentation of 1” or more, something that typically happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleanup, it’s suggested to use cold water with gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Make sure that you wash using gentle circular movements, rather than rubbing.
