Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses made with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced with polyfoam base layers. Deep Sleep Green Helix

Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Customers are requested to complete a survey that asks for their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other elements. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress options; each respective option gives a unique combination of support and firmness:

  • Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
  • Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
  • Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support

Deep Sleep Green Helix

Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are ideal for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel most comfy on variants with balanced support, while individuals that weigh 130 lbs or more often favor the variants with additional support.

Helix Sleep also offers 2 variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both these variants have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them great for couples with different preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier people. This variant has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.

My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a large variety of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Deep Sleep Green Helix

Construction Deep Sleep Green Helix

All 9 of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be rather similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.

Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density based upon the foams used in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The four unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the beds have all of the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 distinct models (and hopefully have a mattress for everyone). Deep Sleep Green Helix

Underneath, I concisely talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.

helix-midnight-construction

Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some great breathability. However, if you prefer something more amped up, you can opt to swap out the regular cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change material for heat regulation.

Comfort Layer – Up top, you will find a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, meaning you are probably going to experience some satisfying body shaping. Even though it may seem odd for a supposedly medium firm mattress to incorporate a memory foam comfort layer, it is crucial to remember that the presence of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it produces quite a firm feeling.

Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you will find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and establish a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the individually wrapped coils below.

Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the construction, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Since the coils are wrapped individually, they’re also going to encourage extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.

Base Layer – Lastly, you’ll uncover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer does not really affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.

Firmness and Support

After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us talk about their varying feels and firmness levels.

helix-mattress-firmness-and-support-scale

The firmness of the Helix will differ widely depending on which version you select. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which is going to be quite versatile and thus exceptionally popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to oblige you with more choices.

Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam layer is soft and produces some top quality body shaping, while the other materials within the mattress work to control this and create an overall firmer composition. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.

For back sleepers, there is just enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lower spine while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or people who prefer a firmer mattress, there are two more options for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.

Majority of side sleepers should feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, but, if you are needing a bit less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you may decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.

Side sleepers typically have to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with all their weight on a smaller region. People who are lighter than average or people looking for a lot of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher variants.

Those who sleep on their stomach will feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this is not their primary position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their backbone.

Lastly, the manufacturer suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 lbs or partners that weigh up to 250 pounds each. In the event you or your spouse are significantly bigger than average, Helix has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that’s constructed to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.

Couples with different types of bodies or preferences may also select a dual comfort variant that pairs Firm with Plush.

Bear in mind that if none of these options sound quite right, you may always check out the four other models in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress of the bunch).

Motion Transfer

Now, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s noticeable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this will be crucial for all sleepers, those who sleep with a partner may find it particularly interesting as it’ll show just how bothered you’ll be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Deep Sleep Green Helix

Based on my observation, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the pocketed coils that help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper worried that movement from the opposite side of the mattress will bother you, then you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this mattress. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.

Sinkage

When buying a brand-new mattress, most men and women want to know whether they’ll feel as though they are sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.

Even though you are going to encounter some immediate sinkage in the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll find the pocketed coils and experience amazing support. This combo will interest a vast assortment of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers in particular.

Edge Support

While I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the bed, the pocketed coils stop the mattress from compressing too much beyond that. I feel very secured sitting on the mattress.

In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There may be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfortable and safe. Couples who want more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.

Laying down, I also feel like I can get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will fall off or be pushed off the bed. Overall, I believe the Helix mattress has nice edge support.

100 Night Sleep Trial

Among the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually come with. Helix is no different. You create the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and in 2 weeks, it is delivered to your door. From the minute you click to order the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it for free of charge, and receive a full refund.

If you do return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. In fact, the company finds a local place to donate it. If there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it’s recycled instead. Deep Sleep Green Helix

Helix Warranty

The Helix Mattress includes an awesome 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it has limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most warranties). Needless to say, you must be the first owner of the mattress to make use of the guarantee, and you need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.

As long as you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to use a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!

If your mattress begins to show an indentation of 1 inch or longer, which is what typically happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?

Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.

For routine cleanup, it is suggested to use cool water along gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Be sure that you clean using gentle circular movements, instead of rubbing.
