Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses manufactured using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores fortified with polyfoam base layers. Cost Of Helix Mattress

Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Purchasers are asked to complete a survey that asks for their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other factors. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress options; each respective variant provides a unique combination of support and firmness:

  • Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
  • Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
  • Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support

Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While those with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are great for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel most comfortable on models with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 pounds or more tend to favor the variants with additional support.

Helix Sleep also offers 2 models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both of these mattresses have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them suitable for couples with different preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.

My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a large assortment of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Cost Of Helix Mattress

Construction Cost Of Helix Mattress

All nine of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be fairly similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.

Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness depending on the foams used in order to get more/less support and more/less firmness. The four unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the variants have all of the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 unique mattresses (and supposedly have a mattress for everybody). Cost Of Helix Mattress

Underneath, I quickly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.

Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some wonderful breathability. But, if you want something more luxurious, you can opt to swap out the normal cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change material to regulate temperature.

Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll discover a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, meaning you are probably going to experience some great body shaping. Even though it may seem odd for a supposedly medium firm bed to feature a memory foam comfort layer, it is crucial to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it generates quite a firm feeling.

Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you will discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and establish a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the individually wrapped coils below.

Support Layer – The majority of the mattress is made up of this section of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the construction, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Since the coils are individually wrapped, they’re also going to allow extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.

Base Layer – Last, you’ll find a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This section does not really affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.

Firmness and Support

After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s discuss their different feels and firmness levels.

helix-mattress-firmness-and-support-scale

The firmness level of the Helix will differ widely depending on which model you pick out. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which is going to be very versatile and thus best-selling. If you have more specific requirements, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to oblige you with more options.

Lying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam layer feels soft and generates some top quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials within the mattress work to control this and create an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also assist with re-positioning.

For back sleepers, there is just enough good comfort material in the Midnight to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or people who want a firmer bed, there are 2 more models for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.

Most side sleepers should feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you’re wanting less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you may decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.

Those who sleep on their side typically need to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with most their weight on a tinier region. People who are lighter than average or those in the market for lots of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher models.

Those who sleep on their stomach should feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this is not their primary position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their spine.

Lastly, the manufacturer recommends Helix for sleepers around 350 lbs or couples that weigh up to 250 lbs each. In the event you or your partner are significantly bigger than average, Helix has also created a bed called the Nightfall that’s made to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.

Couples with differing body types or tastes can also select a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.

Bear in mind that if neither of those options feel quite right, you may always have a look at the four other models in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress of the bunch).

Motion Transfer

Next up, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is detectable from one side of the bed to the other. While this will be crucial for many people, those who sleep with a partner may find it especially interesting as it will show just how bothered you may be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Cost Of Helix Mattress

According to my research, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it contains, as well as the pocketed coils which help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper worried that motion from the other side of the mattress will bother you, then you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this mattress. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.

Sinkage

While buying a brand-new mattress, the majority of individuals wish to know whether they will feel as though they are sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.

While you’re going to encounter a little immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through these layers, you are going to reach the individually-wrapped coils and find fantastic support. This combo will appeal to a vast assortment of individuals, but will suit back and stomach sleepers in particular.

Edge Support

While I do feel the foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the bed, the coils stop the mattress from compressing too much beyond that. I feel very secured seated on the mattress.

In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There can be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfortable and safe. Partners who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.

Lying down, I feel like I could get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll fall off or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I think the Helix has great edge support.

100 Night Sleep Trial

One of the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically come with. Helix is not any different. You customize the mattress that is made for you, place your order, and within a couple of weeks, it is sent to your door. From the moment you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t perfect, you can return it free of charge, and get a full refund.

Should you return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. In fact, Helix Sleep does its best to find a local place to donate it. If there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, they have it recycled instead. Cost Of Helix Mattress

Helix Warranty

The Helix Mattress includes an awesome 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it comes with limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you must be the first owner of the mattress to use the warranty, and you need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.

As long as you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to have a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!

If your Helix starts to have an indentation of 1” or longer, something that generally happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?

Helix mattresses need no turning, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.

For regular cleaning, it’s advised to use cool water with gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Make sure to clean using soft circular motions, instead of rubbing.
