Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses made with dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores fortified with polyfoam base layers. Box Spring For Helix Mattress

Helix Sleep offers complete mattress customization. Customers are urged to complete a survey that asks for their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other elements. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress options; each respective option offers a one-of-a-kind combination of firmness and support:

  • Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
  • Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
  • Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support

Helix Sleep mattresses with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them optimal for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are great for all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel most comfortable on variants with balanced support, while people who weigh 130 lbs or more tend to favor the variants with additional support.

Helix Sleep also offers 2 variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both these variants have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them suitable for couples with differing preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier individuals. This variant has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.

My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a wide assortment of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Box Spring For Helix Mattress

Construction Box Spring For Helix Mattress

All 9 of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be quite similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.

Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density based upon the foams utilized in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 different foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the variants have all of the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine distinct models (and hopefully have a model for everybody). Box Spring For Helix Mattress

Underneath, I concisely discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.

Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some wonderful breathability. But, if you would like something more amped up, you can choose to swap out the regular cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change fabric to regulate temperature.

Comfort Layer – Up top, you will find a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, meaning you’re probably going to encounter some gratifying body shaping. Even though it may seem strange for a supposedly medium firm mattress to feature a memory foam layer, it’s crucial to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it generates quite a firm feeling.

Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you will discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and establish a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the pocketed coils below.

Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this segment of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the construction, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Since the coils are individually wrapped, they’re also likely to allow additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.

Base Layer – Lastly, you will discover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This section does not affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.

Firmness and Support

After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us discuss their varying firmness levels and feels.

helix-mattress-firmness-and-support-scale

The firmness of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on which version you pick out. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which is going to be quite versatile and thus very popular. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to oblige you with additional choices.

Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam layer feels soft and produces some high quality body contouring, while the other materials in the mattress work to counteract this and create an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also help with re-positioning.

For back sleepers, there is enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or people who prefer a firmer mattress, there are two more choices for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.

Majority of side sleepers should feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you are wanting less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you may decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.

Side sleepers typically have to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with all of their weight on a tinier area. Those who are lighter than average or people looking for plenty of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher models.

Stomach sleepers will feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their main position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their spine.

Finally, the manufacturer recommends Helix for sleepers up to 350 pounds or partners that weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. If you or your spouse are significantly larger than average, Helix has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that’s created to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.

Partners with different types of bodies or preferences may also select a dual comfort option that combines Firm with Plush.

Keep in mind that if neither of those models seem right, you could always have a look at the four other mattresses in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the line).

Motion Transfer

Now, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s detectable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this will be important for all people, those who sleep with a spouse may find it particularly interesting as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you will be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Box Spring For Helix Mattress

Based on my observation, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the pocketed coils that help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper concerned that movement from the opposite side of the bed will wake you, you should not have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.

Sinkage

When buying a new mattress, the majority of people would like to know whether they will feel as though they are sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.

Even though you’re likely to experience a little immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through these layers, you are going to reach the individually-wrapped coils and find amazing support. This combo will appeal to a wide range of individuals, but will suit stomach and back sleepers the most.

Edge Support

While I do feel the foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the mattress, the individually-wrapped coils stop the mattress from compressing a lot beyond that. I feel very secured sitting on the bed.

In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their newly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There can be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfy and safe. Partners who need more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.

Laying down, I also feel like I could get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll roll off or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I believe the Helix has nice edge support.

100 Night Sleep Trial

Among the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically include. Helix Mattress is no different. You create the mattress that’s intended for you, place your order, and within 2 weeks, it is sent to your home. From the minute you click to order the mattress, you have 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not perfect, you can return it free of charge, and get a full refund.

Should you return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. Actually, the company finds a local place to donate it. When there’s no way the company can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, they have it recycled instead. Box Spring For Helix Mattress

Helix Warranty

Helix Sleep offers an awesome 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it comes with a few limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most warranties). Of course, you must be the original owner of the Helix to make use of the guarantee, and you need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.

As long as you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to have a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4” apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!

If your mattress begins to have an indentation of 1 inch or longer, something that generally happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?

Helix mattresses need no turning, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.

For routine cleanup, it is suggested to use cool water with gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Make certain that you clean using soft circular movements, rather than rubbing.
