Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses manufactured with dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced with polyfoam base layers. Are Helix Mattresses Hot
Helix Sleep gives you full mattress customization. Purchasers are requested to complete a questionnaire that asks for their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other elements. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress options; each individual option provides a one-of-a-kind combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them optimal for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are great for all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel most comfy on models with balanced support, while those that weigh 130 lbs or more often prefer the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers two models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both of these variants have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them great for couples with different preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier individuals. This model has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a wide variety of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Are Helix Mattresses Hot

Construction Are Helix Mattresses Hot
All 9 of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be quite similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density depending upon the foams used in order to get more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 unique foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the beds have all of the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 unique models (and hopefully have a mattress for everybody). Are Helix Mattresses Hot
Below, I briefly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some wonderful breathability. But, if you prefer something more lavish, you can elect to swap out the normal cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change material to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will discover a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, meaning you are likely to experience some great body contouring. While it might seem odd for a purportedly medium firm mattress to incorporate a memory foam comfort layer, it is crucial to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it produces quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and create a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this section of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the structure, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Since the coils are individually wrapped, they are also going to encourage extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you’ll find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This segment doesn’t affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s discuss their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on the variant you pick out. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which tends to be very versatile and thus exceptionally popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep is happy to provide you with additional options.
Laying down on the Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer feels soft and generates some quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials within the Midnight work to counteract this and create an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s enough good comfort material in the Midnight to conform to your lower spine while supporting your back in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or those who want a firmer bed, there are two more models for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Most side sleepers will feel totally comfy on the Midnight, however, if you are wanting less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you may decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with most of their weight on a smaller area. People who are lighter than average or people in the market for lots of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers should feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their primary position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their back.
Lastly, the manufacturer recommends Helix for sleepers around 350 pounds or couples that weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. If you or your spouse are significantly bigger than average, Helix has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that is created to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with different types of bodies or preferences can also select a dual comfort variant that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of those models feel right, you can always check out the 4 other beds in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress of the bunch).
Next up, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is detectable from one side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be significant for many sleepers, those who sleep with a partner may find it especially intriguing as it will show just how bothered you will be by your partner’s nighttime movements. According to my research, Helix surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the pocketed coils that help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper afraid that motion from the opposite side of the bed will wake you, you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
When purchasing a new mattress, most individuals want to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you are likely to experience some immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through those layers, you will find the pocketed coils and feel great support. This combination will appeal to a vast assortment of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the mattress, the pocketed coils prevent the mattress from collapsing too much . I feel very secure seated on the bed.
In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their recently updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There may be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfy and secure. Couples who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Lying down, I also feel like I could get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I will fall off or be pushed off the bed. Overall, I think that the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically come with. Helix Sleep is no different. You create the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and within a couple of weeks, it’s sent to your door. From the moment you click to order the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it for free, and receive a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. In fact, Helix Sleep finds a local place to donate it. If there is no way the company can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. Are Helix Mattresses Hot
The Helix Mattress includes an amazing 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it comes with limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most warranties). Needless to say, you should be the first owner of the mattress to use the guarantee, and you need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you will need to use a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress begins to have an indentation of 1” or longer, something that usually happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleanup, it’s advised to use cool water with gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Be certain that you wash using gentle circular motions, rather than rubbing.
